Community

In 2005 Gina founded her own company, Runaway Opera. The company is dedicated to making opera more accessible to local communities and giving young singers a performance platform at the start of their careers. Runaway Opera also runs educational workshops for children aged 6-14 years which include a mixture of singing, drama and art activities. Past workshops have centred around Handel's opera Julius Caesar and Humperdinck's opera Hansel and Gretel.

Gina designed and ran a series of singing workshops for children with Special Educational Needs in 2006. The workshops took place at Centre Academy in London and focussed on group singing with students from 8-17 years.

In 2007 Gina designed a music project for children in hospital and their siblings. Singing Remedies taught music theory with creative music making and group singing activities and was aimed at children where illness prevented them from accessing music in main stream education. The project ran in the Summer term at Evelina School in Guys and St Thomas' Hospital, London.

Gina is currently planning a music and singing project for the elderly.
